Swiss QR-bill

Swiss QR-bills in a minute. Marked paid on their own.

Since 2022 the QR-bill has been the only payment slip in Switzerland. Orvela generates it with the right reference, sends it to your customer and closes it when the payment reaches your bank.

What is the Swiss QR-bill?

It's an invoice with the standard Swiss payment part: a QR code with the Swiss cross in the middle and, next to it, the same details in plain text. Your customer scans it with their banking app and pays without typing anything.

Since 30 September 2022 the old red and orange payment slips are no longer accepted. Since 21 November 2025 the QR code only takes structured addresses, meaning street, number, postcode and town in separate fields. Orvela has always filled them in that way.

How it works in Orvela

  1. 01

    You prepare the invoice

Customer, lines, discounts, document language. You can save it as a draft.

  2. 02

    Orvela issues the PDF

Sequential number with no gaps, QR payment part, calculated reference, entry in the journal.

  3. 03

    You send it

By email from the app, or as a downloaded PDF. If needed, payment reminders follow.

  4. 04

    Your customer pays

Import the camt.053 statement: the payment finds the invoice by its reference and closes it. Deposits are matched too.

The real payment part, in four languages

Switch the language: the payment part follows the document language, as the standard requires. The details are the official sample data and can't actually be paid.

Mistakes Orvela prevents

Wrong reference
A QRR reference on a normal IBAN gets rejected by the bank. Orvela won't let you do it.
Unstructured address
Since November 2025 banks can no longer reliably read addresses written on two free-text lines.
Payment booked twice
Marking an invoice paid by hand and then getting the same payment from the statement books it twice. Orvela spots it.
Skipped numbers
Numbering is atomic: a cancelled invoice stays in the archive, it doesn't disappear.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create a QR-bill without a QR-IBAN?

Yes. With a normal IBAN Orvela uses the SCOR (RF) reference, and reconciliation works just the same.

Which languages can I issue invoices in?

English, German, French and Italian. The labels on the payment part follow the language you choose.

How does Orvela know an invoice has been paid?

From your bank's camt.053 statement: the payment carries the invoice reference, Orvela matches it and books the receipt.

What if the customer pays less?

The payment is booked as partial and the invoice stays open for the balance. If you granted Skonto and they pay on time, the invoice closes.

Are invoices archived?

Yes. Every PDF issued is archived as of its issue date, as the Swiss ordinance on keeping business records (GeBüV) requires.
